Anthony Filiberti has been making gorgeous wines at Knez for a number of years, yet this small Anderson Valley estate remains a bit of an undiscovered gem. The reds see a good dose of whole clusters, which gives them notable aromatic lift and perfume. Filiberti describes 2013 as slightly cooler than 2012, with a bit less alcohol and more tannin. As a result, Filiberti gave the 2013s a few more days of skin contact than is his custom. The wines were bottled just a few weeks before this tasting, but did not seem to be showing any signs of shock. If anything, the 2013s are beautifully expressive.
