I was deeply impressed with these wines from Knez. According to winemaker Anthony Filiberti, naturally occurring low yields in 2014, along with less juice per ton than recent vintages such as 2012 and 2013, combined to produce unusually rich wines. Filiberti adds that sugars were actually quite modest, but that long fermentations gave the wines their their intense, rich textures. Readers who want to know why the 2014 vintage is magical for Pinot Noir will want to check out these wines from Knez. Sadly, Filiberti moved on after the 2015 harvest. His will undoubtedly be big shoes to fill.
