2015 Riesling Polish Hill

Long considered Australia's premier Riesling producer, Jeffrey Grosset didn't miss a beat in 2014 and 2015. These new releases of Grosset's Rieslings, which he began producing in 1981, show the taut, sharply focused, mineral-driven style that long-time followers have come to expect. And, as usual, the wines are built to age gracefully. Grosset also has a sure hand with his two red wines, a Pinot Noir and Gaia, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend, but those bottlings are rarely seen in the U.S. as production for both is miniscule. A bit of the Gaia, which comes from a 4.5-acre site that's the highest altitude vineyard in the Clare Valley, does make it over here and it's worth hunting down, especially by fans of traditional St.-Émilions. Total production here averages about 11,000 cases spread across eight different wines.
