Bernhard Breuer turned in a formidable collection this year. He is always inclined to select only early botrytis, and that was an approach fully justified in view of the deteriorating October weather. Breuer put 30 pickers to work and in two days they had accumulated the stuff of future legends. The dry wines I tasted in August had only been in bottle for ten days. My notes on Berg Rottland and Berg Roseneck, which were bottled shortly after my visit, are based on bottles sent to me in November. I did not taste Breuer's Montossa Riesling or the Bischofsberg Eiswein from this vintage. (Classical Wines, Seattle, WA) Also recommended: 2002 Riesling Rudesheim Estate.
