It’s next to impossible to pick favorites in this portfolio, as Foxen does so many things so well. For starters, the 2021 whites and Syrahs are fabulous in the way they marry fruit intensity, structure and brisk acids. I would be thrilled to own any of those wines. The Pinots are nicely done, but they don’t reach the heights of the very finest wines in the range. In that sense, they embody the style and quality of the vintage nicely. Foxen remains a beacon for artisan quality in Santa Barbara, and the United States, for that matter.
