According to winemaker Ross Cobb, 2005 was a nightmare for yields. "We got an average of 0.8 tons per acre off our vines, so it was a relief that 2006 gave us a normal crop," he said. The Flowers wines are often held back for a year of bottle age "to let them develop some of their personality," according to Cobb. "It's really too bad that so much great wine is drunk up before its real character has had a chance to come forward," he told me.
