Egon Müller's family has been handcrafting rieslings from their eight hectares of Scharzhofberg for generations, which is probably why it is Germany's best-known vineyard. For years now, rather than bowing to market pressures to make dry or even-off dry rieslings, they have focused all of their efforts on the intriguingly sweet wines that they do so well. Nor have they expanded their holdings to meet demand. In 2012, both their kabinett and spätlese were at the top of their class. Small is beautiful!
