Winemaker Mark Fiore succeeded Peter Devison as winemaker here in time to make the 2017s, with Devison taking over at Cadaretta. Annual production here was around 8,500 cases in 2016 and 2017, following a few years in which the winery cut back on production as a result of having too much wine in the market. But according to Devison, output from the harvest of 2018 will be up to around 10,000 cases.

Fiore told me that he’s seeking to make the EFESTÉ wines more approachable in their youth, but also more focused and better-balanced. He plans to reduce the numbers of coopers used here (a total of 14 when he took over winemaking) and “play with more varieties.”
