This is an attractive set of wines from Duemani, although there was not much proprietors Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli could do to escape the challenges of the 2014 growing season. The 2014s are noticeably light bodied efforts relative to the norm, while the 2013s are a bit of a mystery at this stage, as both the Syrah Suisassi and Duemani are far less expressive than they have been in the past.

This is another strong set of wines from proprietors Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli. Cabernet Franc and Syrahs are center stage in both entry-level wines and more ambitious, higher-end bottlings. At their best, the Duemani wines are deeply expressive, with tons of varietal character. The addition of the stems in the Syrah Suisassi over the last few years is beginning to produce highly intriguing results.

I was super-impressed with the wines I tasted at Duemani this year. Proprietors Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli appear to be unstoppable forces here. The 2011s are fabulous, but the 2012s, which I tasted from barrel, are shaping up to be even better. Over the last few years, D'Attoma and Celli have begun to work more with cement and have introduced whole clusters, both of which seem to give the wines more layers of expression. The Duemani wines stand out for their extraordinary purity. What else is left to say?
