Jochen Dreissigacker is not really known in Germany, much less in the United States, but that should change as news of his excellent quality trickles down to the general public. Bechtheim, a village in the southern part of Rheinhessen near the border with the Pfalz, was long considered a backwater-but only ten years ago so were Dalsheim and Westhofen. These are interesting wines to seek out for those looking for something new from Rheinhessen, beyond Keller and Wittmann.
