Recent vintages have witnessed a stylistic shift in the wines here, at least based on my own tastings, and it's all for the better. In the past I found many of the wines to be overtly rich and often heavy and, while often impressive for their shock and awe value, not exactly what I suspect most people look for from Pinot Noir. That wasn't the case at all with these 2012s. I was pleasantly surprised by their elegance and freshness but there's no lack of concentration either, which will be a relief to long-time fans of this winery's full-throttle style.
