Remi Rollin, as he did in 2000, calls the 2001 vintage "tres flatteur with rather very fine acid structure" but notes that 2000 will age much better as 2001 is "for early drinking as it has less depth but more finesse and minerality." He went on to say that yields were down marginally but ripeness was good if not exceptional. The wines were bottled in September and Rollin says that he did the "lightest filtration possible to preserve the freshness of the fruit." As an aside, Rollin was positively beside himself with the quality of the 2002 Corton-Charlemagne and while I tasted it in malo, I have to concede that it already appears to be extremely promising with a good deal more depth of material than either the 2000 or the 2001.
