There is no avoiding the fact that it was a challenging vintage down in Beaujolais for Louis Boillot and all winemakers afflicted by the trauma of 2021. In fact, yields here were just 9hl/ha as the vines were heavily affected by mildew. As such, alcohol levels struggled to reach 11% to 11.5%. I feel that this cannot be disguised by these wines, which feel a bit raw and green. Nothing to do with winemaking - just the onslaught of a tough vintage.
