The LaBruyere family started its winemaking ventures in Beaujolais in 1850, and they now own Chateau Rouget in Pomerol as well as the highly regarded Domaine Jacques Prieur in Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Prieur's long-time winemaker, Nadine Gublin, is in charge here as well, and she makes the wines in the Burgundian fashion, with full destemming and fermentation in stainless steel and concrete tanks prior to aging in small oak barrels. These are ageworthy wines, to be sure, and in fact I think they demand it, such is their power and structure when they're young.
