Brothers Eric and Jean-Luc Burguet dealt with the same extreme challenges as everyone else in 2021, conditions especially difficult for growers seeking to work the land as sustainably as possible. The 2021s naturally reflect the lighter style of the year. The reds were not chaptalized and were vinified with one punchdown in the morning followed by one pumpover in the afternoon. To be sure, 2021 is a unique vintage, and yet I find notable purity, freshness and energy in the best of these wines.
