The talented young Villard began in '91 with a tiny quantity of wine and now owns three hectares of vines in Condrieu and two and a half in Saint-Joseph (about 80% of which are red and 20% white). Villard's red wines have gained in quality in the last few years, as the vines begin to mature and crop-thinning becomes standard practice. The reds, after all, are a product of the vines, says Villard, while the whites are made more in the cave.
