With over 70 hectares of vines in some of the best sites on the northern side of the appellation, this domain, owned by Sylvette and Michel Brechet, produces suave, fruit-driven and highly accessible wines that also possess the concentration for aging. The ubiquitous Philippe Cambie consults here, and there's a decidedly polished, "modern" character to Vaudieu's Châteauneufs. That's due, no doubt, to the practice of destemming all of the predominantly Grenache fruit; fermentation in huge, tulip-shaped concrete vats; and raising the wines with a healthy percentage of new and barely-used demi-muids and barriques.
