Anne Parent is always the person to speak to if you want to know what is going on in Burgundy or a frank assessment of the vintage or indeed, for her wines that center around her home village of Pommard. "For us it was a normal crop," she told me in her tasting room. "We are biodynamic so we are not producing 60hl/ha. It was a nice crop, healthy. We didn’t have a lot of surprises like we just had in 2019. We started harvest on Sunday 2 September and we saw good maturity of grapes. I didn’t want high degrees of alcohol so I didn’t pick late. I wanted good acidity. We didn’t have to sort a lot. In 2004 for example, I remember that we had nine or ten people on the sorting table, in 2018 it was just four persons."
