Dirler-Cadé planted new vineyards of Gewürz and Riesling three years ago in the Kessler Grand Cru, as well as the three different Alsace Muscat varieties (Ottonel and d’Alsace, the latter in both white- and red-berried biotypes); all are just now coming into production. Five years ago, the family also planted Pinot Noir in the Effenberg lieu-dit (part of the Bollenberg), which is mostly shallow limestone, and therefore the young vines suffered a little in the hot summers of 2017 and 2018. The lineup of wines I tasted this year at the estate was frankly superb.
