2015 Sangiovese Romagna Predappio Riserva Vigna Raggio Brusa

Chiara Condello was raised in a winemaking family in Predappio before branching out with her own vineyards and winemaking. That family winery is Condé, where she has now taken over winemaking and vineyard management. This won’t pull her away from her brand, as the vineyards are located just below the vines that form the Chiara Condello portfolio, and all wines are made under one roof. However, there are notable differences. For one, the Condé vines are in the lower elevations of the valley and average 20 years old. From a winemaking perspective, the grapes are entirely destemmed and aged in a combination of cask and tonneaux instead of the large Slavonian oak used through the Chiara Condello portfolio. Lastly, the wines are released one year later, on average. I am very excited to see what the future holds here, if for no other reason than to have another expression of Romagna Sangiovese from this talented winemaker.
