Ross Cobb, who is also the winemaker at Flowers, has expanded his line-up of pinot noirs, all of which display the structure one expects from the Sonoma Coast.Vintage 2006 is the first year for the Emmaline Vineyard, which is located at the far western end of Sebastopol and yielded just 166 cases in 2006. The Cobb family's Coastlands vineyard was first planted in 1989, making it one of the earliest sites to be planted to grapes on the coast. The cool, foggy and often rainy conditions here result in consistently low yields, which Cobb says "is the price you pay. Pinot won't show real personality if it is grown in too hot or dry a spot."
