Michael Browne has decided to push back the release of his Cirq Pinots by a year. That is probably a good thing, considering how big and structured the wines can be, especially in a vintage like 2013. At Cirq, Browne seems to have settled into a style that delivers plenty of Russian River fleshiness but with more phenolic intensity and less of the cola-like sweetness that characterized some of his earlier wines. Readers would do well to cellar the 2013s for at least a year or two, as the wines are pretty unapproachable at this stage.
