Although Ciacci traces it roots back to the late 1800s its focus on wine is much more recent and dates to the mid- 1980s. The estate's vineyards are located in and around Castelnuovo dell'Abate, in the southern part of the Brunello zone, as well as across the valley in the Montecucco appellation which lies in the province of Grosseto. Recently a modern new facility has been built to augment the winery's original home at the beautiful Palazzo Ciacci in the town center of Castelnuovo. Today the property is managed by the dynamic and energetic Paolo Bianchini, who took over after his father's untimely passing in 2004. No estate has managed to bridge the gap between classic and contemporary styles as gracefully as Ciacci, whom one could define as the most modern of the traditional producers or the most traditional of the modern producers when it comes to Brunello. The estate's wines tend to be mid-weight and are defined by extraordinary elegance and precision. This is a very strong set of releases from Ciacci.
