Readers will note the addition of several new wines this year, all from mountain sites. That’s a pretty big departure, as Chappellet has been so closely associated with their estate for decades. The 2018s are impressive across the board. Winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus favors a style the melds textural fruit opulence with mountain structure. As a result, the Cabernets benefit from few years in bottle or several hours of aeration it opened on the young side.
