Two thousand-twenty is a tough vintage for the Carter Cabernets. There is no way to get around that. Several wines did not make it into bottle and those that did are all quite awkward, with little of the opulence Carter fans. Incidentally, 2020 is the last vintage made by Mike Smith for reasons unrelated to the vintage, as I understand it. Russell Bevan is the new winemaker, starting with the 2021s.
