I have been a fan of Terlano since my student days, when I drank more than my fair share of the straight Terlaner, a wine that even today punches above its weight. One of Alto Adige's many cooperatives, Terlano is also without question a reference point for the region. The range is notable for many reasons, including the exceptional quality of the top bottlings and the value of the entry-level offerings. This year, Terlano has a new wine, the Terlaner Primo, which is made in a super-classic, throwback style that recalls the great wines of the 1950s. In addition to these new releases, I also tasted a handful of library wines. For more on Terlano, readers might enjoy this short video interview with Sales/Marketing Director Klaus Gasser.
