This social cooperative oversees 350 hectares owned by its members and produces over 1.3 million bottles a year of consistently good wine. Winemaker Dino Addis, who excels with the Vermentino grape variety (highly typical of the Gallura area of Sardinia, where the social coop is located), has released a great new wine this year: a late-harvest bottling of Canayli (the winery’s most famous wine) that is not at all sweet but rather gently dry and very impressive. Nebbiolo-loving readers should also take note that the Gallura area is planted heavily with Nebbiolo, and that the Cantina Gallura is especially adept at turning out great island versions of this grape.
