Proprietor Renato Vacca gives his Barbarescos more time in bottle prior to releasing them, so the 2014s are just entering the market now. The 2014s spent two years in cask and another 18 months in bottle. In 2014, the Gallina is especially fine. I suspect all of these wines will blossom with a bit more time in bottle. In a vintage like 2014, where the wines are a bit nervous to start, the later release schedule might very well mean that I tasted the wines in a phase in which they are a bit closed.
