Canalicchio di Sopra wasn’t prepared to show their newest vintage of Rosso; however, I was able to check in on the 2015 and 2004 while tasting along with winemaker Francesco Ripaccioli. This is a wine that I’ve followed closely for many years, as the estate's desire is to create a Rosso that punches above the expectations of the category, a goal they often achieve. The 2004 was on the decline, yet I wouldn’t have expected much else at seventeen years of age, and the fact that they were willing to show it further demonstrates the pride that this winery has in their Rosso.
