This is a mixed set of new releases from Cambria. The best wines in the range deliver the classic Cambria profile of forward fruit and supple texture, but a few of the Pinots are penalized by heavy reduction and/or excessively high toast levels, some of which may be attributable to fermenting in barrel. The Cambria Pinots are made with fully destemmed fruit, see cold soaks lasting up to a week and are fermented in 100% new French oak barrels, all of which emphasize fruit and textural depth. It would be great to see a higher and more consistent level of quality across this range. At their best, the Cambria Pinots are quite distinctive. Unfortunately some of the 2013 Pinots miss the mark.
