Borgogno is another estate that is late to bottle, so these are the current releases. Andrea Farinetti continues to do a terrific job as his family turns around one of Barolo's historic wineries. The Barolos are all aged in cask and capture an attractive, contemporary expression of traditionalism.

Father and son team Oscar and Andrea Farinetti have done a remarkable job at Borgogno. The estate is now bottling all of its main Barolo vineyards separately (although the Riserva is still a blend), a fascinating opportunity to taste what are essentially essays of some of the best sites in Piedmont. All of the Barolos are aged in cask, but the overall approach is best described as enlightened traditional. These aren't the chunky, rustic Borgogno Barolos of the past, but rather super-polished, sexy wines with tons of finesse and appeal.
