This bodega, established in 1980, holds 120 high-elevation hectares of vines, some over 80 years old, just northwest of Roa, where the weather is typically cooler than in other, westerly sectors of the DO. As a result, the wines tend to convey an elegant expression and are well-balanced and highly age-worthy. French as well as American oak is used here, and the wines see a relatively long rest in the barrels prior to bottling, which no doubt contributes to their characteristically gentle tannic structures. A wide range of wines is produced, depending on the vintage, and released on a staggered schedule, or lack of one, meaning that multiple bottlings will be available at any given time.
