2021 Proprietary Red Wine

These are the first commercial releases from Bergman, a small estate winery perched between St. Helena and Spring Mountain. The first few vintages saw a bit of winemaker turnover, which is never optimal. Nigel Kinsman took over winemaking duties in 2022. Since then, the wines have continued to improve. Pam Bergman is an intensely passionate and highly involved owner on a quest for excellence. Although the wines are a work in progress, the ambition is clear. That said, there is no substitute for the accumulated learning that takes place over that time. Unfortunately, Bergman’s early history coincides with several extremely challenging vintages, namely 2022 and 2020, in which vintners were constantly playing defense.
