Now working with ten hectares of vines, most of them in the middle to northern sectors of Saint-Joseph, Aurélien Chatagnier launched this domaine in 2002 and has made quite a splash in the restaurant scene in France. Only in his mid-30s, Chatagnier has established himself as one of the region’s rising stars, and the prices for his wines, at least locally, are extremely fair given their quality. At first, the wines here were on the extroverted, often oaky side, but the new lumber treatment has been throttled back significantly, down to as little as none and mostly in the 10% range.
