2019 Montefalco Sagrantino 25 Anni

After the more complicated 2018 vintage, Arnaldo Caprai has returned with a robust set of new releases. The 2019s play right into the Caprai style: polish and elegance infused by the winemaking style perfectly complement the intensity of fruit, richness and structure of these sleek Sagrantinos. The Montefalco Sagrantino 25 Anni is a fine example. It matches or perhaps exceeds the best vintages that I’ve ever tasted from this estate. Hailing from vines planted around the winery in 2004, the 2019 Valdimaggio is no slouch either. My introduction to this wine last year suggested plenty of potential. The 2019 is a fantastic follow-up. Last but not least, the 2019 Collepiano is the value score of the portfolio. In the end, fans of Caprai have a lot to look forward to.
