My most recent tasting at Arietta was remarkable, as I had a chance to go through every wine made here since inception, twenty years ago. I will report on that retrospective in a forthcoming article. In the meantime, these are the current releases. Two of the 2014 reds, the H Block and Cabernet Sauvignon were less impressive from bottle than they were a year ago from barrel. As I have written many times in this article, many 2014s have shut down hard post bottling. It will be interesting to see if that is the case here as well.

Once again, I was quite taken with Fritz Hatton's Arietta. The wines are made in small quantities and are available only in a few markets, but from a purely qualitative perspective, they are as good as anything being made in Napa Valley today. Sadly, rarely I hear any buzz about Arietta, and that is a shame, as the wines are gorgeous and distinctive. Winemaker Andy Erickson has done a terrific job with these new and upcoming releases.
