I was really impressed with the wine I tasted with Anthony Filiberti and Dave Low. The 2018s pulse with all of the energy of the vintage. Filiberti describes 2018 as a normal harvest in terms of timing, which might seem late, but in reality is closer to what was once typical. The wines are done with a fair amount of whole cluster and aged with minimal intervention, which means no racking until bottling. More than anything else, the 2018s stand out for the extraordinary purity and total sense of place. Sadly, there is no Sonoma Coast Syrah, but readers will find a superb value in the North Coast Pinot this year. I tasted the appellation wines from bottle. All of the vineyard designates are still in barrel. The Pinots will be bottled in February, followed by the Syrahs in March or April.
