Two thousand and seventeen is another strong vintage for Andremily. Proprietor Jim Binns coaxes tremendous richness from his sites for these opulent, full-throttle wines. As appealing as the 2017s are now, they need time in bottle. I found several of the wines a bit oaky for my taste.

Andremily is one of the great recent success stories in Santa Barbara. The 2017s are the first wines Jim Binns made entirely as his new facility after leaving Sine Qua Non. Binns describes 2017 as a year with moderate temperatures and no heat spikes. Readers will note the addition of a new wine, EABA, which is built on a core of Bien Nacido Syrah. I found the bottled 2016s are just as compelling as they were from barrel last year. In tasting the wines really seem to show added degree of focus and precision, which is of course great to see.
