In John Alban's opinion his 2011s will be long agers based on the fact that "the cool season preserved acidity and gave small berries, with great skin-to-juice ratios and excellent phenols." The lusher '12s, while starting to show plenty of upfront, fruity appeal, will also age nicely, he thinks "but they won't require it." The recent drought years have played havoc with yields, he added, and while production here has never been enormous, "it's been really painful to see how little wine we've been able to make, regardless of how good it might be. But that's life."
