Barrua, which is Agricola Punica's top wine, will be celebrating its tenth vintage with the release of the 2011 this year, and the winery plans to present a commemorative label that highlights that anniversary. The back label will feature the signatures of both the estate’s president, Nicolò Incisa Della Rocchetta (better known to most wine lovers as the owner of Tenuta San Guido, producer of the world-famous Sassicaia) and Vice-President Antonello Pilloni, who are, along with winemaker Giacomo Tachis, the original founders of Agripunica. The estate (roughly 70 hectares of vines producing 300,000 bottles a year) is one of the island’s best, turning out very modern, internationally styled wines that are somewhat Bordeaux-like and always cleanly made. Of course, traditionalists might look elsewhere for “Sardinia-in-a-glass,” but you can’t please everyone.
