Bart and Daphne Araujo did not waste much time getting back in the game after their sale of Araujo Estate (now Eisele Vineyard). The Araujos were able to secure fruit from several top sources and rebuild their team in short order, while purchasing two small parcels of land in northern Oakville they call Rancho Pequeno. Bart Araujo told me after years of making a single vineyard Cabernet, he wanted to make a wine that blended fruit from different sources in more of an old-school style. The 2013 Cabernet is clearly a wine of transition, but the 2014 gives a clearer idea of where these wines are going stylistically. Françoise Peschon is the winemaker and Michel Rolland consults. If that weren't enough, the Araujos have also opened a new custom crush facility, Wheeler Farms, which is designed to service the needs of a small number of premium wineries.
