The Vajra family has made great strides since they began making the wines at Baudana a few years back. The 2011s are a bit hit and miss though, as the straight Barolo is more convincing than the single-vineyard wines, at least today. The Vajras have increased the time the wines spend on skins and lowered the use of French oak, among many initiatives that have generally raised quality. It will be interesting to see if the single vineyard Barolos come around with more time in bottle.
