Ryan Zepaltas described the 2009 vintage as "seamless, so a vineyard guy's dream." Two thousand ten was a completely different matter, though. "People around here like to talk about how great it is to have a long, cool growing season and in 2010 they definitely got it." Zepaltas sources his pinot from very cool, ocean-influenced vineyards on the west side of the region, which mitigated the August heat issues experienced by inland sites in 2010. The wines remind Zepaltas of the 2005s in their "good intensity without much weight or overripeness. They're balanced and will age well."
