A few years ago I began to split my fall tasting at Turley in two sessions after having had a near-death experience when I foolishly decided to taste the entire range in two vintages back to back. Since then, Turley has expanded their range. Even with the ever increasing number of wines, my tastings at Turley are always among the highlights of the year for many reasons, including the diversity in the wines, but also the team's commitment to preserving and extolling the virtues of California's heritage vineyard sites. Larry Turley, Tegan Passalacqua and their team are doing work of historic significance. "In 2015, the Petite seem to be more consistent than the Zinfandels. Some of the 2015 in this tasting show the effects of intense heat in slightly dried out and/or roasted flavors. With the exception of the Juvenile and Old Vines, I tasted all of the 2015s from barrel. I also tasted the 2015 Cabernets, but those wines were embryonic and very hard to read.
