I have seen it time and time again. Joey Tensley's wines are often brutes when they are young. But then something magical happens. Once the youthful tannins start to soften and the fruit emerges, the wines are often dazzling. Two recent bottles of the 2010 Colson Canyon have been utterly breathtaking in their beauty. Tensley uses a fair amount of whole clusters, typically around 40% or so, and prefers neutral oak, except where noted.
