I tasted Realm's 2017s and 2016s as part of a large retrospective that spanned more than 60 wines. I will be reporting on that tasting soon. In the meantime, these wines are seriously impressive. More than that, though, Realm's transformation from a virtual label relying exclusively on purchased fruit into a real winery with estate vineyards is truly remarkable. I can only think of Mark Aubert and Russell Bevan as producers who followed a similar path. Among the more recent developments under Managing Partner Scott Becker and Winemaker Benoit Touquette's leadership, Realm recently took on the entirety of the Farella vineyard on a long-term lease and added David Beckstoffer's Kata label to their portfolio.
