2022 Chardonnay The Judge

John Kongsgaard is one of the stewards of Napa Valley’s rich cultural heritage. As always, discussions here weave in and out of several subjects, most notably wine and classical music, a refreshing change at the end of the day. Kongsgaard fans will note the introduction of a new Estate White that is positively stellar in its debut vintage. Conversely, Kongsgaard did not bottle Cabernet Sauvignon in 2022. Kongsgaard faced the same challenges as everyone else, with the added stress of being so high in elevation that the estate vineyard on Atlas Peak never cooled off in the evenings. That is a complex subject that merits further contemplation in terms of what it means for the future viability of Cabernet Sauvignon here.
