Le Pin

I sampled the major components of the '98 Le Pin, which had been racked just 10 days prior to my visit. The malic acidity was eaten by the drought of August, reports Alexandre Thienpont, "but then the vines here always suffer from drought; the grapes are never particularly high in sugar. And we never look for surmaturite." Just 24 barrels were produced from 2.5 hectares.
