Winemaker Bob Cabral considers 2006 to be "a really, really good Sonoma Coast year. Overall, it reminds me of 2002, but not so ripe." The crop was big, he went on, but the grapes were very healthy "and very little to no acidulation had to be done." He believes that most of these pinots will be enjoyable soon after release and that in most cases they will be showing their best before the 2005s. "They have more up-front sweetness and flesh than the '05s, and the fruit really stands out," he noted.
