I was quite impressed with what I tasted from Volpaia this year. These new releases are all classy, polished and refined, with better balance and consistency than I have seen in previous tastings. Volpaia is located in Radda, where the wines naturally tend to be on the more gracious side. It's nice to see the estate try to get the most out of what the vineyards have to offer rather than forcing a more concentrated style as has been the case in the past.
